Cub Scout Pack 65

Corpus Christi, Texas

Cub Scout Pack 65 Meets at Grace United Methodist Church on Mondays at 6 pm

Why Join Scouting?

• Short answer- It’s a wonderful time for the whole family, so WHY NOT?!?
• Cub Scout-age children benefit developmentally from belonging to a small
group of peers. Your child will be a part of a den, a small group of Cub Scouts
in the same grade level and who are of the same gender. Through this sense of
belonging, children build self-esteem and learn to get along with others.

• Scouting is an organized and regimented way to expose our children to the things we want them to see and do, and to spend time with them doing the things that families hold as core values, but those things tend to get lost in the busy monotony of our everyday lives.

How Does Cub Scouting Work?

In Cub Scouting, you and your family join in on the program with your child, and
you will help them along the way. Cub Scouts have a different handbook at each grade level, with adventures that are age-appropriate for their developmental level. As your child advances through these books by working on required and elective adventures with their den, they will earn badges and other recognition that they wear on their uniform. As your child grows in Cub Scouting, your role will change with them, from hands-on involvement to guiding and coaching.

The Cub Scouting program takes place at two levels. Your child will be a part of a den, a small group of Cub Scouts in the same grade level and who are of the same gender. A den typically meets weekly (boys on Mondays, girls on Tuesdays).  All dens, from kindergarten through fifth grade, make up a pack. Once a month, the dens, with their families, come together at the pack meeting.  (boys on Mondays, girls on Tuesdays).

How Much Does Scouting Cost?

For 2023: One Time Registration fee: .....................................$25                          Annual National Dues:................................................................. $80

Annual Pack Dues:  ...................................................................... $94

Uniform: Our pack requires only the navy button down “Class A” uniform top (khaki for webelos and AOLs) and the neckerchief.  This cost is about $45.  Uniforms may be purchased at your local Scout shop or online. See

We do not ever want program costs to get between a willing scout and cub scouting.  We have easy fundraising opportunities which can pay for your child’s scouting costs with about one afternoon’s effort.  Most scouts pay their dues through their popcorn sales.  Scholarships are available for scouts in need who participate in fundraising activities.

What do Cub Scouts Do?

• Learning, physical activity, service projects, and peer-to-peer relationship building are facilitated through well researched, age-level appropriate adventures.  Each den has about 7 required adventures designed to provide valuable life skills while instilling the morals of the Scout Oath and Scout Law.
• Each adventures takes 2 to 3 den meetings to complete.  While being at each den meeting is the most fun way to complete adventures, we all have busy lives, and Den Leaders will help scouts make up missed adventures either at home with an adult partner or throughout the year at den meetings.

• In addition to weekly den level activities we have monthly Pack meetings where advancement are awarded, information is imparted, scouts perform skits, flag ceremonies and prayers to develop public speaking skills, and guest speakers entertain scout families with various scout related topics.

• At the den and pack level scouts also perform community service projects.

• And let’s not forget the CAMPING!  When people think scouts, they think campouts.  Scouting is a wonderful way to expose scouts (and families) to camping in an easy, safe, helpful environment.
